Every machine in Snacktorio — what it does, what goes in, what comes out, and critical rules you must know to keep your factory running smoothly.

Resource Machines

Miner

矿机
Unlocked: T-4

Extracts raw resources from ore deposits. The backbone of your resource supply chain.

Inputs

  • → Ore deposit (world placement)

Outputs

  • ← 1 item per 5 seconds

⚠️ Special Rules

  • Must be placed on an ore deposit
  • Output rate is fixed at 1 item/5s

💡 Tips

  • 1 Miner = 2 Furnaces (the fundamental production ratio)
  • Hover + Shift to see exact rates

Processing Machines

Furnace

熔炉
Unlocked: T-4

Smelts ores into processed materials. Requires coal as fuel.

Inputs

  • → Ore
  • → Coal (fuel)

Outputs

  • ← Processed material

⚠️ Special Rules

  • 1 coal = 10 seconds burn time
  • Stops working when out of fuel

💡 Tips

  • Keep a coal buffer to prevent production halts
  • 1 Miner + coal supply can run 2 Furnaces

Fermenter

Unlocked: Island 4

Ferments ingredients over time. Used for dough rising, fermented sauces, and brewing Imp helpers.

Inputs

  • → Fermentable ingredient(s)

Outputs

  • ← Fermented product

⚠️ Special Rules

  • ⚠️ Output has an expiration timer — don't let fermented goods sit too long
  • Special recipe: Green Imp Mushroom + Salt + Water = New Imp helper

💡 Tips

  • Breed new Imps by fermenting Green Imp Mushroom + Salt + Water
  • Watch all fermentation timers carefully — expired goods are wasted

Cooler

冷却机
Unlocked: Island 3

Reduces the temperature of dishes. Required for spicy recipes and dishes coming off high-heat machines.

Inputs

  • → Hot/spicy ingredient or dish

Outputs

  • ← Cooled ingredient or dish

⚠️ Special Rules

  • Essential for spicy recipes that would otherwise be 'too hot' to serve

💡 Tips

  • Always add a Cooler at the end of spicy production lines
  • Spicy dishes without cooling fail delivery checks

Cooking Machines

Mixer

搅拌机
Unlocked: T-2

Combines multiple dry ingredients into a mixture. Essential for dough, spice mixes, and compound ingredients.

Inputs

  • → Up to 3 ingredient types

Outputs

  • ← Combined mixture

⚠️ Special Rules

  • Ingredients must be added in the correct order for some recipes
  • Mixed output starts fermentation timer for dough

💡 Tips

  • Mixers are fast — one Mixer can usually feed one Oven or Grill
  • Watch dough output — it starts fermenting immediately

Oven

Bakes ingredients using dry heat. Used for bread, pastries, and roasted dishes.

Inputs

  • → Bakeable ingredient or mixture

Outputs

  • ← Baked product

⚠️ Special Rules

  • ⚠️ NEVER place dairy (milk, cheese, butter) near an oven — they curdle with heat
  • Generates ambient heat that can affect nearby machines

💡 Tips

  • Keep dairy production lines physically away from Ovens
  • Use physical separators (walls/gaps) to block heat spread

Grill

Unlocked: Island 2

Grills meats and other ingredients using direct heat. Essential for meat-based recipes.

Inputs

  • → Meat or grillable ingredient

Outputs

  • ← Grilled product

⚠️ Special Rules

  • ⚠️ Meat MUST be fully cooked — undercooked meat causes food poisoning
  • High heat machine — keep dairy away

💡 Tips

  • Never rush meat through the grill — food poisoning fails the level
  • Add a second Grill if your meat quota is high

Boiler

Unlocked: Island 3

Boils liquids and wet ingredients. Used for soups, noodles, and liquid-based recipes.

Inputs

  • → Liquid + ingredient(s)

Outputs

  • ← Boiled dish or base

⚠️ Special Rules

  • Requires a liquid input
  • High heat — dairy risk nearby

💡 Tips

  • Noodles and soups all go through the Boiler
  • Pair with Cooler for spicy soup dishes

Logistics Machines

Sorter

Unlocked: T-3

Routes ingredients to different outputs based on item type. Your most important logistics tool.

Inputs

  • → Mixed ingredient stream

Outputs

  • ← Sorted streams by ingredient type

⚠️ Special Rules

  • Each row can be set to route specific ingredients
  • Has a 'Catch-all' button per row to handle unspecified items

💡 Tips

  • Use Sorters at EVERY junction where different ingredients could mix
  • Set up catch-all rules to prevent ingredient backups
  • Sorters are essential for allergen management

Splitter

Unlocked: W1-3

Splits a single ingredient stream into multiple output streams. Used to distribute ingredients across parallel production lines.

Inputs

  • → Single ingredient stream

Outputs

  • ← Multiple streams (evenly distributed)

⚠️ Special Rules

  • Can be chained for complex distribution
  • Note: Cannot directly connect Splitter to Splitter yet (QoL request in community)

💡 Tips

  • Chain Splitters to distribute across many parallel lines
  • Always test distribution ratios before running production

Assembly Machines

Chefomatic

Unlocked: W1-2

The final assembly machine that combines processed components into a complete dish ready for delivery.

Inputs

  • → Processed dish components (up to 4)

Outputs

  • ← Complete dish

⚠️ Special Rules

  • ⚠️ JAMS if an extra (unnecessary) ingredient is added — even if all required ingredients are present
  • Liquid slots must be empty if the recipe doesn't use sauce

💡 Tips

  • Always double-check the recipe — unnecessary ingredients cause jams
  • Empty liquid slots if the recipe uses no sauce (Huevos Rancheros, Fangchi Chao Dan, etc.)

Utility Machines

Fabricator

Unlocked: T-2

Crafts factory infrastructure items like scaffolding, ladders, pipes, and conveyor belts.

⚠️ Special Rules

  • Used for both construction and exploration (building bridges to Witchelin Stars)

💡 Tips

  • Always keep spare scaffolding — you'll need it to reach hidden Witchelin Stars
  • Ctrl+C on a machine copies it to blueprint clipboard
